Welcome to the official homepage of the Vancouver
Police Pipe Band.
The band maintains a tradition of outstanding community service
and award-winning skills dating back to 1914, when a few members
of the force played their pipes for the official opening of the
new Police Headquarters. The Chief of the day - Malcolm MacLellan
- was so impressed that he authorized the formation of a Vancouver
Police Pipe Band which today is one of two senior bands locally
and ranks amongst the oldest police pipe bands in the world. The
band wears traditional full highland dress uniforms in the historic
style of British Army Highland Regiments with kilts and plaids of
Prince Charles Edward Stuart tartan.
The Vancouver Police Pipe Band, through their performances on behalf
of the city, provincial, and federal governments have brought recognition
to Vancouver in Canada, the United States and Overseas. The band
is an invaluable public relations unit for the Vancouver Police
Department appearing in numerous performances, charities and civic
events annually.
As a professional and experienced performance band the Vancouver
Police Pipe Band is highly sought after for a variety of engagements.
